Welcome to Ontario Mobile Truck Service! Ever wonder how the interior of your heavy-duty truck remains comfortable from blistering heat or frigid cold outside? The HVAC system is a complex system that warrants our attention.
How The HVAC System Works
The main components, the A/C compressor, evaporator, and condenser, work harmoniously to create that perfectly chilled environment. The refrigerant undergoes a series of transformations. First, it moves as a hot liquid through pipe-like coolant lines to the evaporator. Here, the pressure drops, turning the refrigerant into a gas. This transition from liquid to gas creates cold air for your cabin, blown by a fan through a filter.
Next, the compressor increases the pressure and warms the gaseous refrigerant before sending it into the condenser. The now high-pressure gas returns to its liquid state, ready to begin the cycle again. The circulation continues until time or damage halts its operation.
Heater Core
Are you wondering about heat? A heater core manages that by working in tandem with a fan. The heater core generates and disperses warmth into the passenger compartment.
Why Isn't My HVAC Working?
Leaking Refrigerant: One culprit that interrupts the HVAC system is a leaking service cap. When a service cap leaks, it leads to dripping refrigerant lines. This is more than a minor hiccup; those vapours irritate the eyes, and the leaking liquid could corrode the lines. Telltale signs include refrigerant stains, bubbles, and a hissing sound.
Damaged Heater Core: If your heater core is acting up, a water pump issue is likely the culprit. The heater core needs a steady flow of coolant to prevent overheating. Our mechanics are adept at diagnosing and rectifying such problems, ensuring you do not find yourself in a sticky situation.
Compressor Complications: The compressor valve is often the weak link to compressor issues. If your compressor is acting strangely. Inconsistent temperatures, poor performance, clanging noises, or frozen coils are typical signs to call our shop for repairs.
